Region 8 ECI: “Ten Hour OSHA Safety Training Certificate Courses”
DENISON, IOWA –The Region 8 Employers’ Council (ECI) in conjunction with Iowa Workforce Development is offering a “Ten Hour OSHA Safety Training Certificate” session in June for employers who are interested in promoting safety in their workplace. The training session will be led by Mike Whitmore, Compliance Assistance Specialist with the Iowa Dept of Labor, Iowa Workforce Development.
June 19 and 20, 2012: 8:00 AM-2:00 PM both days
Location: Boulders Conference Center, 2507 Boulders Drive, Denison, Iowa
Cost: $50.00 per person includes program expenses, lunch & refreshments
Topics to be covered include:
• Introduction to OSHA standards
• Walking/Working Surfaces/Falls
• Confined Spaces
• Lockout/Tag Out
• Means of Egress/Fire Protection
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)/Welding/Hazardous Materials
• Materials Handling/Back Ergonomics
• Machine Guarding
• Electrical Safety
• Hazard Communication
• OSHA Recordkeeping

There is a registration fee of $50 to attend which covers meeting expenses and refreshments. This program has been approved for 10.0 (General) recertification credit hours (for each course) towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
The Region 8 Employers’ Council is a local employer group supported by Iowa Workforce Development and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system. All businesses are welcomed to attend these sessions. This employers’ group addresses workforce issues, and provides both educational and networking opportunities for employers and human resource professionals.
