ECI Hosts Seminar On Drugs In The Workplace

SIOUX CITY, IOWA - On Thursday, February 24, 2005, the Siouxland Employers’ Council of Iowa (ECI) and Iowa Workforce Development will be hosting a seminar to discuss Meth & More, Drugs in the Workplace. This seminar will satisfy the Iowa Code requirements for annual supervisory training. Employee use of illegal drugs affects an employer’s bottom line. We’ll discuss identification of usage, documentation of employee use, drug & alcohol testing procedures, and the local trend of drug usage. This very important event will be held at Western Iowa Tech, Building B – Room 138, Sioux City.

Speakers will include: Janet Peterson, drug prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s office; Sgt. Mark Kirkpatrick, supervisor with the Tri-State Drug Task Force; Teresa Miller, Jackson Recovery Centers Senior Prevention Specialist, and Sarah Kuehl Kleber, attorney with Heidman, Redmond, Fredregill, Patterson, Dykstra & Prahl, L.L.P, Sioux City.

The seminar will run from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. with registration at 8:00 a.m. Rolls and coffee will be available. There is a registration fee of $20.00 per person. The Siouxland Employers’ Council is an employee group in Region 12, supported locally by Iowa Workforce Development, and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system.
