Iowa Workforce Development Partners to Promote Community Access Points
Input from Community and Faith-Based Organizations Sought to Enhance Program

DES MOINES - Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) has partnered with Faith Based and Community Organizations (FBCOs) to open Iowa Career Access Points (ICAPs) across the state. The ICAPs create additional entrance points for individuals at familiar community locations. ICAP sites have opened in Cerro Gordo, Pottawattamie, Wapello and Winnebago Counties with more on the way.

On October 1st, at the Iowa Workforce Conference, a "conference within a conference" will be held for interested organizations. This is your opportunity to learn how Iowa Workforce Development will assess the ability of a site to become an ICAP, and train volunteers provided by their organizations to assist their existing customers and the public with employment searches. On October 1, 2008 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, a breakout session will be held at the 2008 Workforce Conference where participants can meet people currently running ICAPs and learn how to become an ICAP.

In preparation for this conference, Iowa Workforce Development is requesting Iowa non-profit community and faith based organizations give their input on any general or specific information desired for this session. Interested organizations may complete an online survey accessible at until September 12th.
