IWD Labor Market Information Division Launches Redesigned Data and Workforce Information Website

Iowalmi.gov is easy-to-use and automatically updates data monthly.

Des Moines, IA — The Labor Market Information (LMI) Division of Iowa Workforce Development  (IWD) has launched a redesigned website to provide data and information related to Iowa’s labor market and workforce.  This redesigned site is replacing the current labor market information site, IWIN (Iowa Workforce Information Network) as of January 31, 2016.

The new website (iowalmi.gov) will contain, but is not limited to, information about the following areas: employment; unemployment; wages; industry and occupational employment; industry and occupational projections; unemployment insurance statistics; Laborshed Studies; employer surveys; education outcomes; career information; and other labor market related publications.

IWD Deputy Director Ed Wallace oversees the LMI Division and said the redesigned website will allow users to easily access statewide, regional and local data, “It has been organized in a topic-driven, intuitive manner making it easier for users to find the data that they need.”

He also praised the visually appealing nature of the Tableau displays for economic developers, journalists, students and anyone looking for current data. “The data platform Tableau users can interact with, select, filter, or sort information using tables, charts and maps, and have the ability to download tables for their own offline analysis,” said Deputy Director Wallace.

Tableau users can embed selected data visualizations into their own websites, which then update automatically when new data is released. For example, an economic developer or a journalist from a given county or city can embed the Local Area Unemployment Statistics data specific to their county or city into their own website to view.  That unemployment information will update the following month automatically when new data is released.
