Lakes Area & Kossuth County ECI: “Ten Hour IOSHA Safety Training Certificate Course”
SPENCER, IOWA – Iowa Workforce Development will commit its resources to Iowa’s prosperity by working to ensure the income security, productivity, safety and health of all Iowans. One goal is to reduce the incidence of injury or illness to workers by enhancing the ability to identify and control safety and health hazards. Employers can learn about potential hazards at their worksites and improve their occupational safety and health management systems by using IOSHA’s consultation services and training opportunities.
The Lakes Area Employers’ Council and Kossuth County (ECI) in conjunction with Iowa Workforce Development is offering a “Ten Hour IOSHA Safety Training Certificate” session for employers interested in promoting workplace safety. The training session will be led by Mike Whitmore, Compliance Assistance Specialist with the Iowa Division of Labor.
The training will be held November 14 and 15. Wednesday the 14th 8:00 am to 3:00 pm & Thursday the 15th 8 am to noon, at the Spencer Hy-Vee Store, 819 Grand Ave, Spencer, Iowa 51301. The cost is $40.00 per person. Topics to be covered include:
• Introduction to OSHA/Inspection Procedures/Safety Training and Programs
• Hazard Communications (RTK)/Health Hazards
• PPE/Fire Protective Equipment
• Tools/Welding
• Electrical
• Scaffolds/Fall Protection/Confined Space Entry
• Excavations
• Ladders and Stairs
• Concrete/Cranes
Pre-registration is requested to Bob Becker at (712) 262-1971 ext. 126 or Robert.Becker@iwd.iowa.gov. This program has been approved for 8.0 (General) recertification credit hours (for each course) towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
The Lakes Area Employers’ Council is a local employer group supported by Iowa Workforce Development Region 3 and 4 and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system. All businesses are welcomed to attend these sessions. This employers’ group addresses workforce issues, and provides both educational and networking opportunities for employers and human resource professionals.
