New Process for Child Labor Work Permits Effective June 1
Des Moines, IA – Iowa Labor Commissioner Michael Mauro announced today changes in the child labor permit process. Beginning June 1st, it will now be an easier and less cumbersome to get a child labor permit in Iowa. The new process is simplified by eliminating several steps.
The child may get the application/work permit by going to the Iowa Division of Labor web page. Once the child, parent/guardian and employer complete the form it is sent by the employer to the Iowa Division of Labor.
These changes in procedures are a result of HF397 signed into law by Governor Branstad on May 7th.
Effective June 1st, Iowa Workforce Development offices and schools will no longer issue work permits.
You can access the instructions and new application/work permit at: Division of Labor Child Labor page.
