Storm Lake ECI to Hold Workshop on Skilled Training for the Workforce

Storm Lake, IA – The Storm Lake Employers Council of Iowa (ECI), Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission and Iowa Central Community College will be hosting an interactive workshop on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. The workshop, “What Your Local IowaWORKS office and Community College can do to Facilitate Skilled Training for your Workforce” will be held at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency 8 located at 824 Flindt Drive in Storm Lake.

Val Bonney, training director for Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission (NWIPDC) and Sarah Rahe, assistant director of Economic Development for Iowa Central Community College will be the presenters.

Topics to be covered include:

- Adult, Youth and Displaced Worker Programs through Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
- Unemployment Insurance Training Extended Benefit (TEB)
- Governor Branstad’s Skilled Iowa Initiative
- Iowa New Jobs Training Program 260E
- Iowa Jobs Training Program 260F
- Other Iowa Central Community College Programs and Curriculum available for Skilled Training

The workshop is free however pre-registration is requested by Friday, May 10, 2013. Contact Robert Becker, by e-mail to: robert.becker@iwd.iowa.gov. A certificate of attendance will be provided to pre-registered participants for recertification purposes.

The Storm Lake Employers’ Council of Iowa (ECI) is a local business group supported by IowaWORKS Region 3 and 4 and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system.
