Iowa Workforce Development Announces Veterans Donation
MASON CITY–The Workforce Development Partnership announces that the Community Kitchen of North Iowa has been chosen to receive a $500 donation for their dedication to serving veterans in North Iowa. The One-Stop Center, known locally as the Workforce Development Partnership, is located at 600 South Pierce in Mason City. One-Stop customers are able to access a wide variety of services at one location, including access to specialized services for veterans.
The veterans’ services program within the One-Stop Center offers facilitation of intensive services to veterans with special employment and training needs. These services may include conducting an initial assessment, developing an employment plan, providing career guidance, coordinating supportive services, providing job development contacts, and referring individuals to jobs and training. The program in Mason City was recently awarded a $3,880 Veterans’ Incentive Award in response to the outstanding services provided to local veterans. The donation to the Community Kitchen of North Iowa was derived from this award.
The Community Kitchen of North Iowa was chosen because of the services they have provided to veterans in North Iowa. They have served over 100 veterans during the last year by serving a noon meal and also offering a meal to take with them if they so choose. They also provide referral services to other agencies for veterans with additional needs.
Veterans who wish to inquire about services available to them can call the One-Stop Center at (641) 422-1527.
