Mason City Workforce Center Awarded Veteran Program Incentive Funds
DES MOINES - Iowa Workforce Development announced the 2008 recipients of the Veterans Services Incentive Funds during Wednesday’s veterans’ conference. The funds are awarded to field offices going above and beyond in providing services to Iowa’s veterans at the local level.
“I’m proud of the services our staff provides throughout the state, and am honored to recognize four of our offices that have demonstrated a high level of creativity and commitment to providing services to area veterans,” said Iowa Workforce Development Director Elisabeth Buck.
The Mason City Workforce Center received an incentive award for the dedicated outreach and partnership building performed by their part-time disabled veteran outreach program staff member. The center has participated in local homeless veteran awareness campaigns, coordinated the delivery of holiday gifts to over 60 veterans and their families and the center has designated a portion of their literary grant dollars to specifically target veterans.
Congratulations to the Workforce Centers in Creston, Des Moines, Mason City and Sioux City for their outstanding work. Each center will receive $3,880 to support additional veteran services programming in their community.
