"Oh My Aching Back! What Recent Courts Have Done with Back Injury/Pain Cases"

ALGONA, IOWA – Iowa Workforce Development and the Kossuth County Employers’ Council will present “Oh My Aching Back! What Recent Courts Have Done with Back Injury/Pain Cases” and “Reducing Risks: Real Life Cases, Real Life Stories, Real Life Solutions” at the Iowa Lakes Community College, 2111 Hwy. 169 N. Algona, Iowa on April 22, 2009. The program is from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Seminar highlights:

• Iowa Workforce Development employment attorney Barbara Tapscott will discuss the key elements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and will focus on recent court cases involving back injuries and/or back pain. See what kind of evidence courts have found helpful in determining whether an employee is qualified to perform the functions of a job and whether disability discrimination has occurred.

• Iowa Workforce Development Disability Navigator Mary Lynn ReVoir will provide helpful advice about hiring and retaining persons with disabilities. Learn “best practices” and resources employers can utilize to protect their workers and themselves using real life cases and real life solutions.
