Two Employer Training Sessions on Promoting Workplace Safety Scheduled

Dubuque, IA: Northeast Iowa Employers Council of Iowa (ECI) in partnership with Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is offering TWO training sessions in March for employers who are interested in promoting safety in their workplace. The training sessions will be led by Mike Whitmore, Compliance Assistance Specialist with the Iowa Department of Labor, Iowa Workforce Development.

Construction Trades 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training Certificate Course will be offered Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm with training completion on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. It will be held at NICC Town Clock Center for Professional Development, 680 Main Street, Dubuque, IA in Room 110. It will include: Introduction to OSHA Standards, Haz-Com, Working Surfaces/Falls, Stairs and ladders, Scaffolding, Fire Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Electrical, Excavations, and OSHA recordkeeping. Ergonomics OSHA Seminar 2010 will be offered on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 8:00 am until noon at NICC Town Clock Center for Professional Development, 680 Main Street, Dubuque, IA. In Room 110. This four hour classroom training will present risk components leading to ergonomic injuries. The knowledge of this ergonomics information will enable attendees to assess and identify risk factors encountered in their daily operations, and know what actions to take to avoid ergonomic injuries.
