Iowa Workforce Development Coordinates Application Process for Iowa State Fair
DES MOINES – Iowa Workforce Development will have a temporary office at the state fair grounds. The IWD office will be located in the southeast corner of the Varied Industries Building.
Initial sign up days for state fair jobs will be Saturday July 26, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and August 4, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Applicants should be prepared to stand in long lines! All applicants will need two forms of I.D. for employers, and will be based on available openings. Applicants 17 and younger upon hire will need their state issued birth certificate, passport, or certified baptismal record in order to obtain a work permit. A work permit is required for applicants under the age of 17 when obtaining employment and requires a parent or guardians approval of hours to be worked for the work permit.
Iowa Workforce temporary office hours for the state fair will be:
August 5 to 8, 2008
8:30 a.m. - Noon
August 11 to 14, 2008
8:30 a.m. - Noon
On Thursday, July 24, 2008, Iowa Workforce will be hosting a youth sign up day for 14 to 17 year-olds at the Workforce Center located at 430 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
