MASON CITY – Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) in Mason City is committed to providing businesses and job seekers with the opportunity to match the employer’s needs with the job seekers’ skills. For the past few years, we have witnessed decreases in businesses hiring youth for summer employment.

In Region 2, Mason City we have had four employers list summer openings for summer 2008 on our Web site. Habitat for Humanity was listed on the web for a Vista position. The City of Mason City has openings in the summer recreation department for temporary seasonal positions. Larson Manufacturing is looking and counting on college aged people to fill their summer employment needs. At the time of this writing all three are still hiring job seekers for temporary summer positions.

CURRIES Manufacturing-ASSA ABLOY has twice listed summer positions. The summer positions that CURRIES manufacturing is filling are open to college students only. Starting at spring break time, Curries has held a series of interviews at the Mason City office. They have hired some job seekers and plan to interview at IWD in about two weeks.
