New Hampton - The New Iowan Center, an initiative of Iowa Workforce Development, invites all citizens, including new Iowans, in the Chickasaw County area, to a community meeting on Tuesday, August 1, 12:30 P.M. at the Pinicon Restaurant, Highway 63 & 18, New Hampton.
The meeting provides an opportunity for the community to work together to identify strengths and challenges to a diverse community and problem solve how a community can get take action for the betterment of all. Attendees will learn the facts about our community, the immigration phenomenon, and how to attract and retain new Iowans to our towns. Additional topics covered will be services offered by the New Iowan Center, new Iowans needs, diversity, and community resources. Lunch will be available at your own expense. The meeting will be led by Marco Adasme, Director of the New Iowan Center in Muscatine, Iowa.
Iowa Workforce Development has established New Iowan Centers to offer workforce development services to persons who have recently moved to Iowa and are seeking employment. The centers are designed to support workers, businesses, and communities with information, community service referrals, job placement, translations, language training, and resettlement assistance, as well as technical and legal assistance concerning forms and documentation.
