Area Employers Invited to Attend 2009 Diversity Conference
Des Moines, Iowa – Area employers and other interested individuals are invited to attend the 2009 Diversity Conference on March 10 at the Northeast Iowa Community College Calmar Campus. This conference will share information about the differences among individuals of four generations and the changing demographics of our society as baby boomers start to retire.

“Exploring Differences, Embracing Diversity”

The theme of the conference is "Exploring Difference, Embracing Diversity" and will focus will on creating a more cohesive work environment by bridging the differences present in the workforce. Conference participants will walk away with constructive ideas for not only the workplace but also in your personal life.
Featured topics include returning Veterans, the Hispanic culture, mental wellness, understanding poverty, awareness of cultural differences, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment and a panel presentation on Immigration & employment. Throughout the day, all attendees will have the opportunity to observe a demonstration of various types of assisting technology available to assist the workplace today.
Iowa Workforce Development, along Cedar Valley Friends of the Family, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, Luther College, Decorah Human Rights Committee, Northeast Iowa Community College invite equal employment and law enforcement officers, human resource managers, public, federal, private, military employees, college students and any other interested individuals to attend. Conference topics are applicable to any work environment.
