CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - On Wednesday, April 20, 2005, the Cedar Rapids New Iowan Center will be hosting an Open House from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Center is located at 800 7th Street, SE., Cedar Rapids.
New Iowan Centers were established by Iowa Workforce Development to offer workforce development services to persons who have recently moved to Iowa and are seeking employment. The centers are designed to support workers, businesses, and communities with information, community service referrals, job placement, translations, language training, and resettlement assistance, as well as technical and legal assistance concerning forms and documentation. Oscar Rosales, New Iowan Center director stated, “New Iowan Centers can definitely help newcomers, employers, and the communities come together and, therefore, it can help make Iowa a better place to live.” “Also, through public-private partnerships, New Iowan Centers can provide one-stop workforce development services for new Iowans.”
Services offered at the New Iowan Center are provided at no cost and are available to everyone. The normal business hours for the Center are from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
