The Iowa Workforce Center wants to help honor our nation’s veterans by holding a pre Veterans Day job fair on Thursday, November 10, at the Workforce Center, 430 E. Grand Avenue, Des Moines. The job fair will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the 3rd floor Board Room at the Center. A Color Guard Presentation will precede the job fair. MTA, UPS, VA Central Iowa Health Care, Home Depot, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Mediacom, Pepsi Americas, Bridgestone/Firestone and Union Pacific Railroad are the employers who are scheduled to attend.
“These employers want to hire veterans and if you are a veteran looking for work, you should plan to attend,” said Gerald Stocker, veteran’s team manager at the Workforce Center. “There will be professional as well as blue collar openings,” Stocker added. Veterans should bring their resumes and come dressed for success.
“Even though Veteran’s Day isn’t officially recognized until Friday, November 11, the Workforce Center wants to get it kicked off a day early by offering the job fair,” Stocker said. “What better way to honor our veterans than to help them find a job.”
Veterans and disabled veterans from all branches of service as well as Iowa Guard and Reserve members who have been deployed are all invited to attend the job fair.
