Printer Friendly PDF VersionSIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Siouxland Employers’ Council and Iowa Workforce Development will be hosting a meeting for employers to learn about the workers’ compensation laws in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. This meeting will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2005, from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The training session will be conducted at Western Iowa Tech, 4647 Stone Avenue, Building B, Room 138 in Sioux City. All employers, workers’ compensation personnel, human resource employees, accounting, payroll and other staff members are invited to attend.
Workers’ Compensation is a state-regulated entity with regulations differing from state to state. Many Siouxland area employers have facilities in more than one state and would be required to work within the workers’ comp regulations for each state. This seminar will break down the idiosyncrasies of each state’s law and procedures, plus discuss issues facing employers today. Information presented at this seminar is a must for anyone working with workers’ compensation matters.
Speakers for this seminar are workers’ compensation experts from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. They are:
• Ron Pohlman, Deputy Workers’ Compensation Commissioner, State of Iowa
• Craig Wagner, Staff Attorney with Nebraska’s Workers’ Compensation Court
• Jim Marsh, Director, Division of Labor and Management, South Dakota Department of Labor
This is your opportunity to learn the nitty-gritty of workers’ compensation: what it is, how it works in each state and how employer – employee disputes are handled. Other issues addressed will be the employer’s role in the claim process, types of benefits provided by law, injuries covered, settlements and employer costs. There is a $25 registration fee to attend this meeting.
