Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is dedicated to the concept that knowledge is power. Our intent is to promote workforce development via the strengths and attributes young Iowans bring to the marketplace. This aligns with our overall belief system and our vision of a future where Iowa has safe workplaces, a productive and economically secure workforce and where Iowans are prepared for an ever-changing future. IWD trusts that to build and maintain a competent workforce, we cannot operate alone but are indebted to work with business, education, government, private sector and non-profit organizations and community and faith-based organizations. A cohesive approach, targeted specifically toward youth and young adults, will help build a qualified pool of workers who are trained, educated and able to adapt in a demand-driven economy.
Ask the Right Questions When Researching Career Paths, Resources and Programs
- Will the job exist in 5-10 years?
- Will it pay a wage to support my lifestyle?
- What do I like to do?
- What can I learn easily?
- Can I use the skills I have?
Interest, aptitude and other assessments can help measure interest, ability and other traits that may affect success.
