Meet Your New Workforce Office
How Integrated Services Will Change And Enhance Service Delivery
SPENCER, IOWA - The Lakes Area Employers’ Council (ECI) and Kossuth County ECI will be meeting jointly on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Iowa Works Center in Spencer at 217 W. 5th Street, Spencer, Iowa – Room B and C (immediately to the right after main entrance). All employers, human resource personnel, accounting, payroll, and other staff members are invited to attend. Featured speaker will be Mary Lou Woods, Iowa Workforce Development, Des Moines, Iowa.
Have you ever wondered what IWD integration is all about? Mary Lou will highlight the differences and benefits of the integrated office. Based on the comprehensive changes that the Iowa economy and workforce continue to face, the state determined that the optimal way of organizing and delivering workforce development services required increased flexibility, effectiveness and efficiency. More workers needed expedient access to more services -- featuring opportunities to acquire or expand skills in demand.
In July 2009, Iowa Workforce Development began implementing an integrated services model to help ensure that:
• Businesses across Iowa have the skilled workers they need; while workers gain and expand skills in demand;
• Workforce services and processes prove to be more efficient and effective; and
• The workforce development system makes a relevant, valuable contribution to each region’s economic vitality.
In addition, the integration initiative is designed to achieve the requirements of Iowa’s 2008 workforce service integration law, House file 2699 approved in January 2009.
Pre-registration is required by Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
