BURLINGTON - Iowa Workforce Development, along with several co-sponsors, are preparing for the Southeast Iowa Regional Job Fair to be held April 3, at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium from 2 pm to 7 pm. Planning started last November, with the co-sponsors meeting to decide when and where to have the event. “We are now currently contacting employers to participate in the event and radio stations are running spots geared toward employers,” according to Diane Harris, IWD chairperson for this event.
The Job Fair will have employers showcasing their business and products and take applications for current or future positions. There will also be workshops for applicants to attend including First Time Résumés and Interviewing Skills. Additionally, area human resource representatives will be conducting résumé critiquing during the event.
Last year the event was held at the Mt. Pleasant Armory, where 45 employers participated with over 700 people in attendance. The committee hopes the event will grow and be an even bigger success this year.
Co-sponsors of this event are the area Chambers: Burlington, Ft. Madison, Keokuk and Mt. Pleasant; area radio stations include: Withers Broadcasting, Pritchard Broadcasting, KILJ, and Titan Broadcasting. Additional sponsors include: The Hawkeye, Mt Pleasant News, Iow@Work, Southeastern Community College, Iowa National Guard, and new co-sponsors, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Staples.
