“Cover Your Assets” Seminar


Decorah, IA – Ignorance of the law can cost your company thousands of dollars. Are you confident that your company is complying with state and federal employment laws? An October 30, 2007 seminar will focus on the ten hot employment topics that your company needs to know. Information about the new Iowa and Federal minimum wage, missed breaks, overtime references & defamation, and employee retaliation will be discussed during this 90 minute seminar.

Barb Tapscott, employment attorney with Iowa Workforce Development, will be the featured speaker. Tapscott was a private practice employment attorney for 12 years before she joined Iowa Workforce Development in June of 2004. She has worked with law firms based in New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and West Des Moines. Tapscott is a frequent speaker and trainer for employer and worker groups.

The seminar is being offered at two locations at no registration cost. Attendees can choose one of the following locations: The Oaks Steakhouse at 1101 Highway 9 West in Decorah, Iowa or the Edgewater Golf Course at 1432 Q Avenue in Oelwein, Iowa. The Decorah location will be held at 7:30 a.m. and will include a complimentary breakfast. The Oelwein location will be held at 11:30 a.m. and will include a complimentary luncheon.
