Ethanol Job Fairs in N.W. Iowa

SPENCER – Iowa Workforce Development has coordinated Job Fairs with two local Ethanol plants.

Lita Meyer of GPRE (Green Plains Renewable Energy) contacted Lurene Swalve and Bob Becker from Iowa Workforce Development to advertise the need for a Supervisor and Iowa plant workers. The Job Fair was held at the Iowa Workforce office in Estherville, Iowa. The Estherville office promoted the career fair throughout the region including southern Minnesota. GPRE had four interview teams going throughout the job fair.

The Iowa Workforce Development team assisted GPRE by greeting the potential candidates, ensuring that the applications were filled out appropriately, and provided a viewing area for a video on ethanol related careers throughout the event. GPRE had a successful event, interviewing roughly 80 applicants in office space provided by Iowa Workforce Development.

Global Ethanol also held a job fair at the Algona office in order to recruit applicants for their growing needs. The boom in ethanol careers throughout Iowa, particularly northwestern Iowa, has led to the development of hundreds of highly skilled, high wage positions for Iowans.
