FORT DODGE, IOWA - On Friday, March 11, 2005, the Employer’s Network Taskforce will host a workshop on Substance Abuse in the Workplace at the Fort Dodge Best Western Starlite Village motel from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Laurie Liska, Adolescent & Adult Program Coordinator and Doug Sliehe, Adolescent Program Coordinator, at the Rabiner Treatment Center Program will facilitate the workshop. Laurie holds a BS in Psychology and is currently working on a Masters in Counseling. She has been working in the substance abuse field for 16 years, 13 years with the Trinity Recovery Center. Doug holds a BS in Social Work and a MS in Christian Counseling and has been with the Trinity Recovery Center for 5 years. Both are certified as Advanced Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors. The Trinity Recovery Center provides outpatient services to a 5 county area. The Center also fosters relationships with businesses in the community by provide training and acting as a referral service for Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).

Laurie and Doug will discuss the following topics: Drugs of abuse, effects of drugs on the body, the impact of drug abuse in the workplace, intervention services for employers and the history of EAPs.

The cost of the workshop is $7.50 per person, which includes a hot breakfast. Pre-registration is required by calling the Chamber of Commerce office at (515) 955-5500.
