Unemployment Insurance Division Administrator Appointed to Integrity Center Steering Committee for National Workforce Agency

DES MOINES, IA – Ryan West, unemployment insurance division administrator for Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), has been asked to serve on the Integrity Center Steering Committee for the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA).

West joined IWD in June of 2009 and is responsible for overseeing the State’s unemployment insurance program. Previously, he served in the Unemployment Insurance Claims bureau where he oversaw claims processing, adjudication, training and customer service.

NASWA, a national organization of state administrators of the state workforce system, is focused on driving the national workforce agenda. NASWA has joined forces with the US Department of Labor and the New York State Department of Labor to support the Unemployment Insurance Integrity Center of Excellence. The Center is a laboratory of innovation for integrity strategies in unemployment insurance, established to assist in preventing, detecting and recovering improper payments.

West is a veteran of the United States Navy where he worked as flight deck director on board the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. He was responsible for more than 10,000 launch and recovery missions. West holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Simpson College.
